In the General Info step, you have selected a host on which you want to run the service your are currently creating. In the Interface Binding step of the Edit <Service> wizard, you will bind the service you plan to create to specific network interfaces on the selected host. Interface binding can be useful if you want to separate traffic due to security reasons. For example, if your organization uses a gateway to separate the internal network (LAN) from external networks (WAN), you can bind the service to an interface that separates the service traffic from other traffic. Binding the service to WAN, which covers a large geographic area including the Internet, ensures that the service traffic is separated from LAN, which usually cover your organization’s internal network.

Note: Before you can bind the service to network interfaces on the host, ensure that you have properly set up the interfaces on the host. Otherwise, you will not be able to bind the service to the desired interfaceinterfaces.

To bind your service to network interfaces in the Interface Binding step, complete the following:

  • All Interface Binding: Select this check box to bind the service to include all network interfaces. Deselect this if you want to choose either WAN or LAN for binding.

  • WAN: Select this to bind the service to WAN.

  • LAN: Select this to bind the service to LAN.
