• The Legacy Data Connector VM software package: Contact your Infoblox representative to obtain the Legacy Data Connector VM software package, which consists of a template file with an .ova extension. You can deploy the Legacy Data Connector VM from a remote web server or a local file system accessible from your management system.
• A management system that has vSphere Client installed.
• If your Grid is running NIOS 7.3 or later, you must install the Security Ecosystem license on your Grid to configure the Splunk and SIEM destinations.
• VMware ESXi 5.x or later
• For upgrades only: To upgrade your Data Connector, obtain the latest Legacy Data Connector VM software package from your Infoblox representative and then follow the upgrade procedures described in Upgrading the Infoblox Legacy Data Connector. Note that your Legacy Data Connector must have software version 1.1.0 and later running in order to upgrade to future releases and hotfixes.
• You must configure the following to forward data to a SIEM destination:

  •  Legacy Data Connector version 3.0 and later.

  • Security Ecosystem license installed on your NIOS Grid.

  • Ensure that the following are configured for a secure transport:

    • You must configure a SIEM tool to secure TCP communication using TLS. This is mandatory for an encrypted communication.

    • Configure server certificates so that the Legacy Data Connector can forward DNS queries and responses to the configured SIEM tool. Note that the server certificates must be self-signed or signed by CA authorities. You can retrieve them from SIEM tools. For more information, refer to the respective SIEM tool documentation.
