1. Log in to the Cloud Services Portal.

2. Go to Manage > Infrastructure > Hosts, and then click Create Host.

3. In the Create Host wizard, specify the following information on the General Info page:

   • Name: Enter the name of the host. This is a required field.

   • Description: Enter additional information about the host.

   • Serial Number: Enter the serial number here.

     • For physical VEP-1425 and VEP-1485 appliances, obtain the seven-digit serial number from the Service Tag label on the bottom of the appliance.

   • IP Space: From the drop-down menu, choose or search for an IP space in which you want your host to reside.
     For information about IP settings, see Setting IP Interfaces.

   • Location: From the drop-down list, choose a location profile you want to apply to the host. When you associate a location with the host, you can find the exact location of the host on the world map. For information, see Viewing General Host Information. You can also apply the same location profile to multiple hosts to group the hosts by location. For information about location management, see Managing Locations.

   • Redundant Cloud Connectivity: The connectivity monitor is responsible for monitoring the health of the connection between the host and the Infoblox Cloud Services Portal. It will monitor connections from any of the host's interfaces with this setting enabled. This is useful in deployment scenarios where multiple interfaces are used that each have access to the Internet. Used in conjunction with the IPv4 Metric option of each interface, the connectivity monitor allows the primary interface (interface with the lowest metric) to be used to connect the host to the Cloud Services Portal. If the connectivity monitor detects that the connection from the primary interface to the Cloud Services Portal has failed, it allows the host to connect the portal via the other interface(s) in ascending order of metric precedence. By default, connectivity monitoring is enabled, but you can disable it by toggling the switch to the right. It's important to note that connectivity monitoring is not supported on hosts configured with HTTP Proxy. Note that deploying BloxOne hosts with multiple interfaces is not a common scenario.

• Tags: Click the down arrow and then Add to specify the keys to be associated with the host:

  • KEY: Enter a meaningful name for the key.  

  • VALUE: Select the appropriate checkbox, and enter the value for the associated key. For details, see Managing tags.

Click Next to view the summary of the host you have created, or click Cancel to cancel the creation of the host. For details, see Viewing Host Summary.
