In the hierarchical view, the sub-zones are nested within the zone in a hierarchical structure. In the flat zone view, you can view the zones, including the nested ones in a single list. For example, the host NIOS-X Server called server1.infoblox.com contains two A records and an ALIAS (which is a host NIOS-X Server naming convention for CNAME records). If you view the infoblox.com zone using the hierarchical view option, you will see one entry host NIOS-X Server for server1.infoblox.com. In the flat view, you will see three records (one for each IP address/A record, and one host NIOS-X Server Alias for the CNAME).

To view the list of zones in the flat zone view, complete the following:

  1. From the Cloud Services Infoblox Portal, click Manage -> DNS -> Configure > Networking > DNS > Zones.
  2. Toggle Flat Zone View to ON
  3. BloxOne Universal DDI displays the following information for all zones and subzones as a single list:
    • NAME: The name of the zone. Click on the name of the zone to view the list of subzones associated with it.
    • DNS NAME: The URL, for example, google.com
    • TYPE: Indicates the type of the zone, Primary, Secondary, or Forward.
    • DESCRIPTION: Information about the zone.
