The Applications page is tab, accessed through MonitorReports > Application Discovery > Applications displays  , shows details about all applications detected on your network. The page offers the option to sort and filter the applications by category and manufacturer, and it shows the following details:     

  • MANUFACTURER: The manufacturer or vendor of the device.
  • NAME: The name of the application.
  • CATEGORY: The category of the application
  • REQUESTS: The number of requests an application has made since it was detected on your network for the first time.
  • STATUS: The application’s status: Need ReviewApproved, or  or Unapproved
  • DEVICES: The devices associated with an application.

You can do the following on the Applications page: 

View Background Tasks

Click the hourglass icon to view all background tasks currently being undertaken. 

Perform Search

Click Image RemovedClick the search icon to search through all available application records

The left-most column lists the statuses:

  • Approved
  • Need Review
  • Unapproved

To change the status of an application, do the following:

1. Select the application by clicking the horizontal menu item associated with it.
2. Select the status of the application, and click the Change Status button to update the status.
3. It takes approximately 30 seconds for the system to update the status of an application on the Summary page.

View Application Categories

All available categories of applications are listed in the left-most column of the Applications page:

To view all available application see more categories, click Show more. To limit the number of application categories shown on the listsee fewer categories, click Show less.  

View Manufacturers

The status types are listed in the left-most column of the Applications page. The following are some of the manufacturers available:

  • Adobe Inc.
  • Akamai Technologies
  • Amazon
  • Apple Inc.
  • Apple, Inc  << note to editor: this is not a typoInc
  • Box, Inc
  • Canonical Additional manufacturers

To view the list of all available see more manufacturers, click Show more. To limit the number of manufacturers shownsee fewer manufacturers, click Show less.  

Filter by Application Category

On the right-hand side of the page, click Show, (located below the Action bar. The time period displayed can be modified from 1 hour to 1 month. To choose a custom time period, select Custom and choose From and To valuesthe Action bar) and choose a time period

  • 1 hour (default)
  • 24 hours
  • 48 hours
  • 7 days
  • 1 month
  • Custom
    • To specify a custom time period, select Custom and choose From and To values. When Custom is selected, the following date and time filters appear:
      • From: Use the calendar and the time dial to select the start date and time.
      • To: Use the calendar and the time dial to select the end date and time.

Change Status of Application

The left-most column lists the statuses:

  • Approved
  • Need Review
  • Unapproved

To change the status of an application, do the following:

1. In the Application Data table, select an application from the list by clicking the the expandable menu icon icon associated with the application.

2. From the pop-up menu, select Approved or Unapproved, depending on the status you want to assign to the application.

3. Select the status of the application, and click the Change Status button.

The system takes approximately 30 seconds to update the status. The updated information will be shown in the tile that reflects the application's newly assigned status.

4. To see the status of newly approved and unapproved applications, go to the Summary page.

Edit Application Filters

To edit the application filters, go to ConfigurePolicies > Filters and click the expandable menu icon and then Edit, next to the default options All Unapproved Applications and All Unapproved Applications in the name columnTags can be assigned to approved as well as unapproved applications. Or, to go to the Application Discovery Summary page, click the All Approved Applications link or the All Unapproved Applications link in the NAME column. For more information, see Configuring Security Policies.

Sort Application Categories

In the applications data Application Data table, click a header title to sort through the application records according to the column label.        

Export Records

Click Image Removed to Click the ecport icon to export a CSV file that contains all Application Summary records.
