On the General Info page of the Edit <Host><Server> wizard, you can update the general host server information, as follows:

  • Name: Enter the name of the hostserver. This is a required field.

  • Description: Enter additional information about the hostserver.

  • Serial Number: Update the serial number of your hostserver.

    • For physical VEP-1425 and VEP-1485 appliancesservers, obtain the seven-digit serial number from the Service Tag label on the bottom of the applianceserver.

  • IP Space: From the drop-down menu, choose or search for an IP space in which you want your host to reside.API Access Key: The information used mainly for backward-compatibility purposes, in scenarios where a host was configured using an API access key. You will need this key to establish a connection to the host. Click Copy to get the API access key associated with the hostserver to reside.

  • Location: From the drop-down list, choose a location profile you want to apply to the hostserver. When you associate a location with the hostserver, you can find the exact location of the host server on the world map. For information, see Viewing General Host Server Information. You can also apply the same location profile to multiple hosts servers to group the hosts servers by location. For information about location management, see Managing Locations.Connectivity Monitor: Use the toggle switch to enable or disable connectivity monitoring. When you enable connectivity monitoring, BloxOne uses the metric you configure in the IP settings to determine which network interface to use to communicate with the Cloud Services Portal. When you configure a host using multiple networks, you can use one particular interface as the default interface for communicating with the Cloud Services Portal. You can also set up other interfaces for communication when the default interface is unavailable. BloxOne utilizes the metric on an interface and the WAN label to determine which interface to use for communication. The interface with the lowest metric will be the default outbound interface, and all the WAN-tagged interfaces will have a route to the internet.
If connectivity monitor is enabled and one of the outgoing WAN interfaces fails to connect to the Cloud Services Portal, the host will result in the degraded status and a message will be displayed.

For information about IP settings, see Setting IP Interfaces.

Note

Do not enable the connectivity monitor feature if your hosts are configured behind an HTTP proxy.
