Before you create a new hostNIOS-X server, note the following:

  • Hosts NIOS-X servers for physical BloxOne B1-105 appliances servers are automatically created when the appliances servers are shipped by Infoblox; a host . A NIOS-X server is created by using an appliance’s the server’s serial number. DO NOT manually create hosts for physical BloxOne appliances.Virtual hostsNIOS-X physical servers on the Infoblox Portal.

  • NIOS-X virtual servers, including KVM-deployed hostsservers, connect to the Cloud Services Infoblox Portal by using valid join tokens. For information about join tokens, see Configuring Join Tokens.

  • For NIOS-X physical VEP-1425 and VEP-1485 appliancesservers, obtain the seven-digit serial number from the Service Tag label on the bottom of the applianceserver. You will use this number when creating a new hostNIOS-X physical server.

  1. Log in to the Cloud Services Infoblox Portal.

  2. Go to Manage > Infrastructure > Hosts Servers, and then click Create HostServer.

  3. In the Create HostServer wizard, specify the following information on the General Info page:

    • Name: Enter the name of the hostserver. This is a required field.

    • Description: Enter additional information about the hostserver.

    • Serial Number:

      For physical BloxOne hosts, get

      Enter the serial number

from the Cloud Services Portal or the console displayed on the monitor you connected to the appliance

      here.

      • For physical VEP-1425 and VEP-1485 appliancesservers, obtain the seven-digit serial number from the Service Tag label on the bottom of the appliance.

    • IP Space: From the drop-down menu, choose or search for an IP space in which you want your host server to reside.
Connectivity Monitor: Use the toggle switch to enable or disable connectivity monitoring. When you enable connectivity monitoring, BloxOne uses the metric you configure in the IP settings to determine which network interface to use to communicate with the Cloud Services Portal.
When you configure a host using multiple networks, you can use one particular interface as the default interface for communicating with the Cloud Services Portal. You can also set up other interfaces for communication when the default interface is unavailable. BloxOne utilizes the metric on an interface and the WAN label to determine which interface to use for communication. The interface with the lowest metric will be the default outbound interface, and all the WAN-tagged interfaces will have a route to the internet.
If connectivity monitor is enabled and one of the outgoing WAN interfaces fails to connect to the Cloud Services Portal, the host will result in the degraded status and a message will be displayedFor information about IP settings, see Setting IP Interfaces.

    • Location: From the drop-down list, choose a location profile you want to apply to the server. When you associate a location with the server, you can find the exact location of the server on the world map. For information, see Viewing General Server Information. You can also apply the same location profile to multiple servers to group the servers by location. For information about location management, see Managing Locations.

For information about IP settings, see Setting IP Interfaces
