Before you create a new hostNIOS-X server, note the following:

  • Hosts NIOS-X servers for physical BloxOne B1-105 appliances servers are automatically created when the appliances servers are shipped by Infoblox; a host . A NIOS-X server is created by using an appliance’s the server’s serial number. DO NOT manually create hosts for physical BloxOne appliances.Virtual hostsNIOS-X physical servers on the Infoblox Portal.

  • NIOS-X virtual servers, including KVM-deployed hostsservers, connect to the Cloud Services Infoblox Portal by using valid join tokens. For information about join tokens, see Configuring Join Tokens.

  • For NIOS-X physical VEP-1425 and VEP-1485 appliancesservers, obtain the seven-digit serial number from the Service Tag label on the bottom of the applianceserver. You will use this number when creating a new hostNIOS-X physical server.

To create a hostNIOS-X server:

  1. Log in to the Cloud Services Infoblox Portal.

  2. Go to Manage > Infrastructure > Hosts Servers, and then click Create HostServer.

  3. In the Create HostServer wizard, specify the following information on the General Info page:

    • Name: Enter the name of the hostserver. This is a required field.

    • Description: Enter additional information about the hostserver.

    • Serial Number: Enter the serial number here.

      • For physical VEP-1425 and VEP-1485 appliancesservers, obtain the seven-digit serial number from the Service Tag label on the bottom of the appliance.

    • IP Space: From the drop-down menu, choose or search for an IP space in which you want your host server to reside.
      For information about IP settings, see Setting IP Interfaces.

    • Location: From the drop-down list, choose a location profile you want to apply to the hostserver. When you associate a location with the hostserver, you can find the exact location of the host server on the world map. For information, see Viewing General Host Server Information. You can also apply the same location profile to multiple hosts servers to group the hosts servers by location. For information about location management, see Managing Locations.

    For information about IP settings, see Setting IP Interfaces.

  • Tags: Click the down arrow and then Add to specify the keys to be associated with the hostserver:

    • KEY: Enter a meaningful name for the key.  

    • VALUE: Select the appropriate checkbox, and enter the value for the associated key. For details, see Managing tags.

Click Next to view the summary of the host server you have created, or click Cancel to cancel the creation of the hostserver. For details, see Viewing Host Server Summary.
