A TXT (text record) record contains supplemental information for a hostNIOS-X Server. For example, if you have a sales server that serves only North America, you can create a text record stating this fact. You can create more than one text record for a domain name.
To create a TXT Record, complete the following:
- From the Cloud Services Infoblox Portal, click ManageConfigure > Networking -> DNS -> Zones.
- Click the DNS view.
- Click the zone.
- Click Create -> Record and select TXT Record from the column selector.

- Name: Enter the name for the TXT Record.
- Select Zone: Select an associated zone from the column selector.
- Text: Enter a target text string for the TXT Record. . The text is used to provide the ability to associate arbitrary text with a NIOS-X Server or other name, such as human readable information about a server, network, data center, or other accounting information.
- Description: Enter a descriptive comment about the TXT Record.
- TTL: Enter a numeric value and select Hours, Minutes, or Seconds from the drop-down.
- Disable for DNS Protocol: Click this check box to temporarily disable for DNS Protocol. For more information, see Enabling and Disabling Zones.
- Tags: Click Add to associate keys with values. Specify the following details:
- KEY: Enter a meaningful name for the key, such as a location or a department.
- VALUE: Enter a value for the key such as San Jose (for location), or Accounts (for department).
- To remove a tag, select the respective check box and click Remove to delete the associated tag. For more information about tags, see Managing Tags.
