A join token is a special-purpose, system-generated , alphanumeric string value used to authenticate a virtual on-prem host to NIOS-X virtual server, which can then automatically associate itself with its corresponding user account and establish a connection to the BloxOne Infoblox services.

Note: A join token is necessary when you set up a virtual appliance; it is not required for BloxOne physical appliance deployment

To deploy a virtual appliance, you must first To deploy an endpoint, create a join token, and then issue it to the corresponding on-prem host when you set up your machine. You can use the same join token to deploy multiple virtual appliances. You can also create endpoint.

Create as many join tokens as you need, and use them for different purposes. For example, you can create one , such as the following:

  • Use the same join token to deploy multiple NIOS-X virtual servers.

  • Create a join token to provision a set of remote devices, and assign them to your

...

  • Infoblox Portal account.

...

  • Create a short-lived join token for an admin who

...

  • wants to join

...

  • NIOS-X servers. When the admin finishes the task,

...

  • revoke the join token and

...

  • thus prevent the admin from provisioning new servers.

  • Revoke a join token if it has been compromised, to prevent its use

...

  • in provisioning of new NIOS-X servers. If you use a revoked token, a server cannot establish a new connection to the

...

  • Infoblox Platform. However, the server will keep an existing connection. Note that join tokens are valid until you revoke them through the

...

  • Infoblox Portal.

The Manage > Infrastructure > Configure > Administration Join Tokens page displays the following information for each join token you have created:

  • TOKEN NAME: The token’s name of the token.

  • STATUS: The token’s current status of the token. This can be Active or : Active or Revoked.

  • COUNT: The number of times you have used this the token to set up your NIOS-X virtual appliancesservers. You can reuse the same a token multiple times for different virtual appliancesservers.

This number is useful for security purposes. For example, if you have

...

used a join token

...

to connect a certain number of

...

servers, and if that number does not match the

...

value of COUNT, then you may want to review the

...

servers that

...

have joined your network.

  • LAST USED: The timestamp when of the token was token’s last useduse, in formatted as mm/dd/yy hh:mm:ss time zone format.

  • DESCRIPTION: Information about the join token.
