Before you edit a template, ensure that you understand the following operations when you apply the template to a host:

  • If the host is currently running a service that exists in the template you plan to apply, the service on the host will be updated with new information from the template, including service description, tags, and interface labels. The service name and service type will not be updated.

  • If the host is not currently running a service that exists in the template, all configurations for that service in the template will be created and added to the host.

  • If the host is currently running a service that does not exist in the template, the service on the host will be removed from the host.

To edit a template, do the following:

  1. Log in to the Cloud Services Portal.

  2. Click the Manage > Infrastructure > Templates tab.

  3. Select the template you want to modify, and then click Edit.

  4. In the Edit Template dialog, specify the following:

    • Name: Modify the name of the template.

    • Description: Modify the description of the template.

    • TAGS: Click Add and specify the following to associate a key with the template, or select a key and click Remove to delete it.

      • KEY: Enter a meaningful name for the key, such as a location or a department.  

      • VALUE: Enter a value for the key. For details, see Managing Tags.

    • Template from Host: Displays the name of the host from which BloxOne is taking a snapshot of the service configurations. You cannot edit this field.

    • Services: The following is displayed for each of the services captured in the template. You cannot edit the following information.

      • Service Name: The format of the service name: <host_name>_<service_type>. When you apply the template to a host, the <host_name> will display the name of the host to which you have applied the template.

      • Service Type: The service type, such as cdc (for the Cloud Data Connector service) or dns (for the DNS service).

      • Interface Bindings: The interface labels you have configured for the corresponding interface binding with the service.

  5. Click Next to view the summary.
