The latest release of vNIOS for AWS includes the following new enhancements:

Support for High Availability Configuration (RFE-12151)

Starting from NIOS 9.0.4, you can deploy instances of vNIOS for AWS appliances in high availability (HA) configurations. For the deployment steps, see Configuring HA with vNIOS for AWS Instances.

vDiscovery to Support discovery Across Multiple AWS Accounts (RFE-8680)

You can configure a vDiscovery job in a vNIOS instance running on NIOS 9.0.4 or later to discover and synchronize data across multiple AWS accounts of an AWS organization, across a single or multiple regions. For more information, see vDiscovery on AWS VPCs.

vDiscovery to Support discovery Across Multiple AWS Accounts in AWS Gov Cloud (RFE-12012)

You can configure a vDiscovery job in a vNIOS instance running on NIOS 9.0.4 or later to discover and synchronize data across multiple AWS accounts of an AWS organization, across a single or multiple regions in AWS Gov Cloud. For steps, see Configuring vDiscovery Jobs in the Infoblox NIOS Documentation.

Synchronize Route 53 Data only for Specified AWS Accounts (NIOS-93893)

The Multiple-Account Sync option for synchronization of Amazon Route 53 data in NIOS 9.0.4 and later, allows you to specify the child accounts from which to synchronize the DNS data, or choose to synchronize data from all child accounts of an AWS organization. For more information, see Setting up the AWS Environment for Multi-Account Synchronization.

Support for Virtual Advanced DNS Protection and Virtual DNS Cache Acceleration (RFE-8736)

vNIOS instances running on NIOS 9.0.1 or later can be configured with virtual Advanced DNS Protection (vADP) to detect DNS threats and prevent possible network attacks. For more information about virtual Advanced DNS Protection, see the About Infoblox Advanced DNS Protection topic in the Infoblox NIOS Documentation and for the list of supported appliances, see Infoblox vNIOS for AWS AMI Shapes and Regions.

The instances running on 9.0.1 or later also support virtual DNS Cache Acceleration feature. Enable the feature to configure them as high-speed DNS caching-only name servers. For more information about virtual DNS Cache Acceleration, see the Configuring DNS Cache Acceleration topic in the Infoblox NIOS Documentation and for the list of supported appliances, see Infoblox vNIOS for AWS AMI Shapes and Regions.

Filtering Options for vDiscovery

Starting from NIOS 8.6.3, you can configure vDiscovery jobs with CIDR-based filters to limit vDiscovery only in configured networks or to skip vDiscovery from excluded networks. For more information, see the Configuring vDiscovery Jobs topic in the Infoblox NIOS Documentation.

Support for Network Insight (RFE-10248)

Starting from NIOS 8.6.3, deployment of Network Insight appliances on AWS public cloud is supported. You can use the discovery feature to detect devices in your network and manage the device data. For information about supported models, see Infoblox vNIOS for AWS AMI Shapes and Regions and for more information on Network Insight, see the Infoblox NIOS Documentation.

Synchronize Route 53 Data from Multiple AWS Accounts (RFE-9382)

Starting from NIOS 8.6.3, the Route 53 integration feature can discover and synchronize the Route 53 DNS data from multiple AWS accounts of an AWS organization to NIOS by using a single NIOS admin account. For more information, see Amazon Route 53 Integration.

Support for Route 53 Integration on AWS GOV Cloud (RFE-11806)

Starting from NIOS 8.6.3, the Route 53 integration feature is supported on AWS GOV cloud. For more information, see Amazon Route 53 Integration.

Support for EBS Encryption (RFE-11931)

vNIOS for AWS instances running on NIOS 8.6.3 or the later versions of 8.6.x, support encryption of Elastic Block Storage volumes. For more information, see the Defining Storage Settings for the vNIOS for AWS Instance section in Provisioning vNIOS for AWS Using the BYOL Model.

Support for R6i EC2 Instance Type (RFE-12312)

vNIOS for AWS instances running on NIOS 8.6.3 or later versions of 8.6.x can be deployed on R6i instance types. For information about supported EC2 shapes and models, see Infoblox vNIOS for AWS AMI Shapes and Regions.

Connecting to the Serial Console of an EC2 Instance (RFE-11803)

You can now connect to the serial console of a vNIOS for AWS EC2 instance that is deployed on R6i instance type for troubleshooting purposes. For more information, see the Connecting to the EC2 Serial Console of the Instance section in Provisioning vNIOS for AWS Using the BYOL Model.

Support for PayGo Deployment

You can now deploy vNIOS on AWS directly from the marketplace, with in-built licenses. For more information, see Provisioning the PayGo Instance of vNIOS for AWS.
