The following table lists recommended software combinations that are verified for compatibility with Infoblox IPAM Plug-In for VMware (hence forth referred to as "the plug-in"):

To ensure that the plug-in is compatible with other combinations of VMware software components, verify that the components are compatible with each other, by referring to the product documentation for these products and to VMware Product Interoperability Matrix.

Cloud Network Automation Deployments

Cloud Network Automation consists of two components:

• The Cloud Network Automation license that provides the ability to view VM-related information in VMware vCenter directly from the Infoblox GUI organized by a tenant. This enables the networking teams to see information that is normally available only through VMware vSphere Web Client, which in turn enables the networking and server teams to efficiently troubleshoot issues and manage allocations of IP addresses and DNS records.

• Cloud platform appliances that allow sending of all API calls directly to the Infoblox appliances (rather than to the Grid Master) that serve DNS and/or DHCP locally within the datacenter that hosts the Cloud Management Platform (CMP).

The plug-in enables you to work with non-Cloud Network Automation and Cloud Network Automation NIOS deployments by using the Infoblox WAPI and Cloud API, respectively.

To use the Cloud Network Automation solution for visibility and/or federating API calls, configure the plug-In must be configured to use the Infoblox Cloud API, which unlike the standard Infoblox WAPI, supports additional objects such as the tenant object and the federated API capability of the cloud platform appliances.

The following figure illustrates the usage of Cloud Network Automation with the VMware Plug-In.

You may use one of the three different configurations of VMware plugin with NIOS Cloud Network Automation:

• The Cloud Network Automation license is installed on the Grid Master; the user configures the Infoblox VMware Plug-In to connect directly to the Grid Master. This deployment assumes that no Cloud platform appliances are in the NIOS Grid.

• One or more Infoblox cloud platform members are added to the NIOS Grid; the Cloud Network Automation license is not installed on the Grid Master, and the VMware Plug-In is configured to connect directly to a primary cloud platform member instead of the Grid Master.

• One or more Infoblox cloud platform members are added to the NIOS Grid; also, the Cloud Network Automation license is installed on the Grid Master; the VMware Plug-In is configured to connect directly to a primary cloud platform member instead of to the Grid Master just as in the second option.
