Azure DNS is a hosting service that facilitates name resolution for DNS domains through the Microsoft Azure infrastructure. When domains are hosted in Azure, DNS records can be managed by using the same credentials as other Azure services.

vNIOS for Azure has the ability to Integrate with and perform a read-only synchronization of Azure DNS resources for an unified visualization experience. This ability enhances the efficiency of Azure DNS management by automating the process of data synchronization and ensures reliability with consistent and up-to-date Azure DNS data within NIOS.

In Azure, DNS records are organized into private and public hosted zones. NIOS offers the functionality to synchronize with Azure DNS, integrate hosted zones with the NIOS database, and keep them organized into private and public zones. This allows you to access DNS data through a unified console.

The Azure DNS synchronization feature in vNIOS for Azure offers the following:

  • Synchronization of DNS data from your Azure virtual networks to the NIOS database (note that this is a one-way synchronization). You can use a single cloud admin account and synchronize data from:

    • All subscriptions of a tenant.

    • Selected subscriptions of a tenant.

  • A unified console (Grid Manager) across your enterprise networks and Azure hosted zones.

  • Azure zone data consolidated to specific DNS views in NIOS through Grid Manager.
