Enabling Juniper Mist discovery provides visibility into your Juniper Mist SD-WAN elements, such as:

  • Wireless access points
  • Switches
  • Edges
  • Gateways

Note

NetMRI does not save configurations for Mist devices. NetMRI uses the Mist API version 1.

To add and configure Juniper Mist discovery, do the following:

  1. Enable SDN and SD-WAN polling: Click the Settings icon, go to Setup > SDN/SD-WAN Polling, and follow the instructions on Configuring SDN and SD-WAN Polling Settings.
  2. Click the Settings icon and go to Setup > Discovery Settings > SDN.
  3. Click New.
  4. In SDN Type, select Juniper Mist.
  5. Do the following:
    • Config NameSpecify a short and unique name for the current configuration of Juniper Mist.
    • Network InterfaceChoose the interface for accessing the device. The name of the associated collector appears in parentheses, next to the interface's name. Because Juniper Mist’s infrastructure might have IP addresses overlapping in different network views, you must choose an interface accessible from the internet.
    • ProtocolThis field is populated as HTTPS automatically and is not editable.
    • Address: Enter the hostname or IP address of the Juniper Mist Dashboard API. By default, it is api.mist.com.
    • API Key: Specify the access key required to use Mist APIs. The Juniper Mist administrator must grant an API key that provides at least observer-level access.

    • (Optional) Maximum Requests per SecondTo avoid overloading the system, specify the maximum number of HTTP requests that can be sent from NetMRI to Juniper Mist SDN per second.
    • (Optional) Collect Devices in Offline StatusSpecify whether you want to discover Juniper Mist devices that are offline.
    • (Optional) Enable Discovery BlackoutSelect the checkbox and then click its Scheduling icon. For more information, see Defining Blackout Periods.
  6. Click Test Connection to verify that the device is reachable and that the credentials you have provided for it are valid. Results of the connection test are logged to Syslog.
  7. Click Add or Add & Discover.
