Before you create a new host, note the following:

  • Hosts for physical BloxOne B1-105 appliances are automatically created when the appliances are shipped by Infoblox; a host is created by using an appliance’s serial number. DO NOT manually create hosts for physical BloxOne appliances.

  • Virtual hosts, including KVM-deployed hosts, connect to the Cloud Services Portal by using valid join tokens. For information about join tokens, see Configuring Join Tokens.

  • For physical VEP-1425 and VEP-1485 appliances, obtain the seven-digit serial number from the Service Tag label on the bottom of the appliance. You will use this number when creating a new host.

To create a host:

1. Log in to the Cloud Services Portal.

2. Go to Manage > Infrastructure > Hosts, and then click Create Host.

3. In the Create Host wizard, specify the following information on the General Info page:

  • Name: Enter the name of the host.

  • Description: Enter additional information about the host.

  • Serial Number:

    • For physical BloxOne hosts, get the serial number from the Cloud Services Portal or the console displayed on the monitor you connected to the appliance.

    • For physical VEP-1425 and VEP-1485 appliances, obtain the seven-digit serial number from the Service Tag label on the bottom of the appliance.

  • Tags: Click the down arrow and then Add to specify the keys to be associated with the host:

    • KEY: Enter a meaningful name for the key, such as a location or a department.

    • VALUE: Select the appropriate checkbox, and enter the value for the associated key. For details, see Managing tags.

4. Click Next to view the summary of the host you have created, or click Cancel to cancel the creation of the host. For details, see Viewing Host Summary.
