L2 nHop topology shows devices that can be reached from a selected starting device through a chosen number of Level 2 (actually a hybrid of L1 and L2) connections.

To display an L2 nHop network topology, complete the following:

  1. Locate the starting device in the graph.
  2. Right-click the device and select L2 nHop.
  3. In the window that appears, specify the Hop Count (the view will show devices reachable in this number of hops or less).

    Note

Setting Hop Count to All stops hops at L3 devices.

  4. Select a view. In other words, a connection type, such as CDP, Serial Links, Switch Forwarding, or Aggregate.
  5. Click OK.
The resulting graph is displayed in a separate window. The starting device is highlighted. Devices that cannot be reached or that are farther away than the specified hop count are not shown in the resulting view.

Cisco Nexus switches and their virtual device contexts (VDCs) will appear in this view.
