To run a simple DNS query from the Cloud Services Infoblox Portal, complete the following:

  1. From the Cloud Services Infoblox Portal, click click Configure > NetworkingDNS > DNS Servers.

  2. Click  and select Troubleshoot > DNS Query Results for a single DNS server. 

  3. Configure the following:

    • Type: Choose the record type.

    • Nameserver: Specify the IPv4, IPv6, or FQDN.

    • Host NIOS-X Server name: Specify the host NIOS-X Server name.

    • Select one of the following options:

      • vc (enables the TCP mode)

      • short (disables everything except the short forms of answers)

      • trace (traces all the delegations from the root)

      • dnssec (requests the server to send DNSSEC code)

      • norecurse (disables the recursive mode)

      • nssearch (searches all the authoritative name servers)

      • cdflag (requests the server not to perform a DNSSEC validation)

      • multiline (displays records in multiple lines).

  4. Click the Execute button.

To run an advanced DNS query from the Cloud Services Infoblox Portal, complete the following:

  1. From the Cloud Services Infoblox Portal, click click Configure > NetworkingDNS > DNS Servers.

  2. Click  and select Troubleshoot > DNS Query Results for a single DNS server. 

  3. Click Advanced.

  4. Specify the command in the Dig command field and click Execute.
