  1. Create an HA Group: Create an HA group and add two existing Hosts NIOS-X Servers to the group. This creates an HA pair. For information on creating an HA Group, see Configuring HA Groups.
  2. Create an IP Space: Go to Manage - Configure > Networking > IPAM/DHCP -> Address Spaces. Click Create -> IP Space. Configure the settings and click Save and Close. For information on creating an address space, see Configuring IP Spaces.
  3. Create a Subnet and Assign the HA Group to the Subnet: Go to Manage -Configure > Networking > IPAM/DHCP -> Address > Address Spaces. Click Create -> Subnet. Select the newly created IP Space for IP Space and the HA Group for HostNIOS-X Server. Click Save and Close. For information about creating a subnet, see Configuring Subnets.

The HA with two Hosts NIOS-X Servers is now complete.

  • You must select different hosts NIOS-X Servers for an HA group.

  • A host NIOS-X Server must use only one IP space.
  • A host NIOS-X Server associated with an HA group cannot be associated with another in Active/Active and Active/Passive mode.

  • A host NIOS-X Server can be associated with multiple HA groups in Advanced Active/Passive mode.
  • A host should not NIOS-X Server that is part of an Active/Active or Active/Passive HA group cannot have subnets and ranges of its own. The NIOS-X Server cannot have subnets or ranges associated with itthat are not associated with the HA group. A NIOS-X Server that is part of an Advanced Active Passive HA group is allowed to have subnets and ranges of its own.

  • The hosts NIOS-X Servers (Node 1 and 2) must be able to communicate with each other on the specified ports. Any firewall settings must allow traffic on the specified ports. 
  • All ranges within a given subnet must be assigned to the same NIOS-X Server or HA group as the parent subnet.
