Configuring HA Groups

Configuring HA Groups

Two NIOS-X Servers can be added to an HA (High Availability) group. In case one NIOS-X Server is down, the second NIOS-X Server can take over DHCP lease management without causing downtime. High Availability can be configured as Active/Active, Active/Passive, Advanced Active/Passive or Anycast. For conceptual information, see High Availability for DHCP.

To view the list of HA groups, complete the following:

  1. From the Infoblox Portal, click Configure > Networking > IPAM/DHCP > HA Groups.

  2. The application displays the following information:

  • NAME: Displays the name of the HA group.

  • DESCRIPTION: Displays additional information about the HA group.

  • HA CONFIGURATION: Displays whether the configuration is Active/Active, Active/Passive, Advanced Active/Passive, or Anycast.

  • SERVICE INSTANCE 1: Displays the service instance associated with the HA group.

  • SERVICE INSTANCE 2: Displays the service instance associated with the HA group.

  • HA Status: Displays the following status:

    • Ok

    • failure

    • degraded

    • intermediate

    • unreachable

    • unknown

If a NIOS-X server is disconnected from the Infoblox Portal, the status is shown as degraded. This may occur if the local network is disconnected from the cloud or during updates to the service infrastructure. In the case of updates to the infrastructure, the degraded status should be transitory.

You can also perform the following in this tab:

  • Click to select and reorder the columns to be displayed on the interface.

  • Click  > Edit next to an HA group, or select the check box for the respective HA group and click Edit to modify an HA group.

  • Click > Delete next to an HA group, or select the respective HA group and click Delete to delete an HA group.

  • Select an HA group to view additional details like Description, HA Configuration, Port, Service Instance 1, Service Instance 2 or Packet Statistics. The State of the service instances is also shown. The State can have the following values: ready, waiting, terminated, syncing, passive-backup, partner-down, load-balancing, backup, hot-standby, down, unreachable or unknown. If you do not want to view the details in the right panel, click info_pane-20240912-051742.png .
