BloxOne Endpoint is assigned by default to the All BloxOne Endpoints (Default) group. Assignment of the new endpoint occurs Assignment of a new Infoblox Endpoint takes place at the time of its installation. The assignment to the default endpoint group can be overridden and customized at the time a new endpoint is installed by assigning the new endpoint to a newly created custom endpoint group. The custom endpoint group to which the endpoint is to be assigned must already have been created in the Cloud Services Portal prior to the installation of the new endpoint. For additional information on BloxOne By default, a newendpoint is assigned to the All Infoblox Endpoints (Default) group. To override the default assignment, assign the endpoint to acustom endpoint group that must already have been created in the Infoblox Portal beforethe endpoint is installed. For additional information on InfobloxEndpoint, see the following:

Custom assignment of a newly installed BloxOne Endpoint You cannot assign an endpoint to a custom endpoint group will not work in the following scenarios:

Scenario 1: BloxOne Group assignment of BloxOne Endpoint previously having a clientID  The endpointhas a clientID associated with it. If In this is the casescenario, then the endpoint will not be added to the custom endpoint group. In this scenario, the endpoint defaults back to the default endpoint group, All BloxOne be assigned back to All InfobloxEndpoints (Default).

Scenario 2: The installation of a different BloxOne Endpoint is assigned to an endpoint group, where another endpoint is already associated with the  Another endpoint is currently assigned to the same custom endpoint group. If In this is the casescenario, then then the previous other endpoint will continue remainassigned to be associated with the custom endpoint group, and the new endpoint you are currently attempting to associate the client ID which is associated with the custom endpoint groupwill be associated remain with the default endpoint group, instead. In this scenario the client ID remains with the original endpoint otherendpoint and cannot be reassigned or transferred to the new endpoint, and the new endpoint will be assigned to the default endpoint group.

Endpoint to a Custom Endpoint Group

To add a new BloxOne Endpoint endpoint to a custom endpoint group other than the default endpoint group, All BloxOne Endpoints (Default), complete do the following:

  1. In the Cloud Services the Infoblox Portal, navigate to Endpoint Groups (Manage > Endpoints > Endpoint Groups).Create a new go to Configure > Security > Endpoints > Endpoint Groups.
  2. On the Endpoint Groups page, click Create. This will create the endpoint group where you will be installing BloxOne Endpoint by clicking Create on the Endpoint Groups page. On the the endpoint.
  3. In the Endpoint Group Name field on the Create Endpoints Group page page, provide a name for your the new endpoint group in the Endpoint Group Name field. Click .
  4. Click Save & Close to  to save the newly created endpoint group name. Or you can complete Alternatively, complete the configuration process for the endpoint group configuration process prior to saving the pageit. For additional information on creating and configuring an endpoint group, see Creating BloxOne Endpoint Groups.
  5. Download the BloxOne Endpoint the Infoblox Endpoint installer from Configure >Administration >  > Downloads > Endpoint. Save the downloaded file to the machine where you will be installing BloxOne Endpoint. For additional information on downloading BloxOne Endpoint, see Downloading BloxOne Endpoint.
  6. In the downloaded BloxOne Endpoint install folder, unzip the folder and click to open the endpoint_group.txt configuration file inside the unzipped folder. Once the configuration file is open, add the name of the BloxOne Group just created. Save and close the file.  
  7.  Click the BloxOne Endpoint installeractivetrustendpoint.endpoint setup installer, to install BloxOne Endpoint. Wait for the install process to complete prior to moving to the next step.
  8.  In the Cloud Services Portal, navigate to Endpoint Groups (Manage > Endpoints > Endpoint Groups) and click Refresh to verify the installation of the new BloxOne Endpoint in the newly created  > Endpoint and click Refresh to verify the new endpoint has been installed in the new custom endpoint group. On the the Endpoint Groups page page, you will see the number of endpoints in the endpoint group will be updated to reflect that the endpoint was successfully added to the endpoint group.
Warning

The endpoint group to be added to the "endpoint group" configuration file must be added to the Cloud Services Portal prior to adding it to the configuration file. Otherwise, the newly installed BloxOne Endpoint will be added to the default endpoint group instead. 

Warning

The BloxOne Endpoint Group added to the “endpoint group” configuration file must be the same name as the Endpoint Group just created. Otherwise, the endpoint group will be invalid, and the newly installed endpoint will default to the All BloxOne Endpoints (Default) endpoint group instead.

Note

Custom assignment of a newly installed BloxOne Endpoint to a custom endpoint group will not work in the following scenarios:

Adding a New BloxOne Endpoint to a Custom Endpoint Group

To add a new BloxOne Endpoint to a custom endpoint group other than the default endpoint group, All BloxOne Endpoints (Default), complete the following:

  1. In the Cloud Services Portal, navigate to Endpoint Groups (Manage > Endpoints > Endpoint Groups).
  2. Create a new endpoint group where you will be installing BloxOne Endpoint by clicking Create on the Endpoint Groups page. 
  3. On the Create Endpoints Group page, provide a name for your new endpoint group in the Endpoint Group Name field. Click Save & Close to save the newly created endpoint group name. Or you can complete the endpoint group configuration process prior to saving the page. For additional information on creating and configuring an endpoint group, see Creating BloxOne Endpoint Groups.
  4. Download the BloxOne Endpoint installer from Administration > Downloads > Endpoint. Save the downloaded file to the machine where you will be installing BloxOne Endpoint. For additional information on downloading BloxOne Endpoint, see Downloading BloxOne Endpoint.
  5. In the downloaded BloxOne Endpoint install folder, unzip the folder and click to open the endpoint_group.txt configuration file inside the unzipped folder. Once the configuration file is open, add the name of the BloxOne Group just createdthe addition of an endpoint to the group. For information see Downloading BloxOne Endpoint.
  6. Unzipthe downloaded folder and openthe configuration file, endpoint_group.txt.
  7. In the file, add the name of the created Infoblox group. Save and close the file.  
  8.  Click the BloxOne Endpoint installeractivetrustendpoint.endpoint setup installer, to install BloxOne Endpoint. Wait for the install process to complete prior to moving to the next step.
  9.  In the Cloud Services Portal, navigate to Endpoint Groups (Manage > Endpoints > Endpoint Groups) and click Refresh to verify the installation of the new BloxOne Endpoint in the newly created,
  10. Click Infoblox Endpoint installer and wait for the installation process to complete.
  11. In the Infoblox Portal, navigate to Configure > Security > Endpoints> Endpoint Groups, click Refresh, and verify thatthe new endpointhas been installed in the new custom endpoint group. On the  Endpoint Groups page page, you will see the number of endpoints in the endpoint group will be updated to reflect that the addition of anendpoint was successfully added to the endpoint group..
Warning

The If you add the installed endpoint group to be added to the "endpoint group" configuration file must be added to the Cloud Services Portal prior to adding it to the configuration file. Otherwise, the newly installed BloxOne Endpoint before adding the endpointto the Infoblox Portal, then the endpointwill be added to the default endpoint group instead. 

Warning

The BloxOne Endpoint Group , All Infoblox Endpoints (Default).In addition, if the endpoint group you added to the “endpoint group” configuration file must be the same name as the Endpoint Group has a name that differs from that ofthe endpoint group you have just created. Otherwise,thenthe endpoint group will be invalidinvalidated, and the newly installed new endpoint will default to the All BloxOne Endpoints (Default) be assigned to the default endpoint group instead.
