Warning

You can import DNS views and zones in the same import action. However, the import of resource records should be done as a separate import action. Importing both DNS views and zones with resource records in the same import action may result in errors. To ensure successful imports, export DNS views and zones in one export action, and resource records in another export action. You can then import both files separately to avoid errors.

Complete the following steps to To import data and create an import report:

  1. Go to

    Admin

    ConfigureAdministration > Data Import/Export >

    Data

    Import tab.

  2. Click Import

  3. In the General Info step, specify the following:
    • Name: Specify a name for the import configuration.
    • Description: Enter a description.
    • Tags: Click Add to associate keys with the view and specify the following details:
      • KEY: Enter a meaningful name for the key, such as a location or a department.
      • VALUE: Enter a value for the key such as San Jose or Accounts. To remove a tag, select the respective checkbox and click Remove to delete the associated tag. For information about tags, see /wiki/spaces/ddiadminguidensdraft/pages/11014132.
  4. Click Next.
  5. In the Select file for import step, click Select file to navigate to the JSON or CSV file. Note that for a successful import, edit the file using the instructions in Import Parameters before the import. Before importing the JSON file, you can add entries for all objects and services except on-prem hosts. You can also modify the values for Name, Description, and Tags for all objects. You cannot add or delete on-prem hosts, but you can modify the values for Name, Description, and Tags for on-prem hosts.

  6. In the Verify objects step, choose the objects to be imported. If your file does not include certain objects, clear the respective check boxes. Ensure that you select the correct object types that correspond to the import file that you plan to use. For example, if your JSON or CSV file contains data for authoritative zones, select only the Authoritative Zones check box.
  7. Click Next
  8. In the Select import type step, choose one of the following options:
    • Add new records from the imported file
    • Add new records and update existing records
    • Add new records, update existing records and delete all records not in the imported file
    • Add new records and delete all records not in the imported file
    • Update existing records and delete all records not in the imorted file
    • Delete all records not in the imported file: Use this option with caution. If you use this option, it could result in the deletion of a large number of objects from the Cloud Services Portal, which would result in having to recover them from the /wiki/spaces/ddiadminguidensdraft/pages/11012252

    • Delete all records in the imported file: You cannot add or delete on-prem hosts, but you can update the values for Name, Description, and Tags for on-prem hosts. Adding or deleting of the on-prem hostconfig object is not supported.

  9. Click Next
