Anycast configuration incorporates the following common parameters shared by all on-prem hosts in support of a particular service.

  • An anycast configuration can incorporate multiple on-prem hosts while an on-prem a host may be a member of multiple anycast configurations.
  • All on-prem hosts in an anycast configuration must belong to the same tenant that owns the anycast configuration.
  • All anycast addresses configured for a particular on-prem host will be advertised to the same set of upstream routers.

Depending on your license entitlement, you can associate an anycast address with multiple on-prem hosts that are serving the same BloxOne serviceInfoblox Platform. Note that each anycast address must be unique for a specific protocol. For example, if you have the BloxOne Infoblox Threat Defense Advanced license entitlement, you can create an anycast address and associate it with multiple on-prem hosts that have DNS forwarding proxy service enabled and running on them. Similarly, if you have the BloxOne Universal DDI Advanced entitlement, you can associate one anycast address with multiple on-prem hosts that are serving DNS.

To set up anycast addressing, do the following:

  1. Create an anycast configuration, as described in Creating Anycast Configuration.
  2. Create an anycast service instance, as described in Creating Anycast Services.
  3. For Anycast 2.0, configure the desired anycast protocol as described in Configuring Routing.
Note

Due to an anycast limitation, there is no option to provide routing ID in the routing configuration. You will not be able to configure anycast advertising on a VLAN interface or multiple interfaces.

...

Anycast will choose the WAN interface by default. For more information, see Setting IP Interfaces.

The ConfigureNetworking > Anycast page displays the following information about the Anycast configurations currently in your system.
