The Applications page is accessed through Reports > Application Discovery > Applications displays details about all applications detected on your network. The page offers the option to sort and filter the applications by category and manufacturer, and it shows the following details:
- MANUFACTURER: The manufacturer or vendor of the device.
- NAME: The name of the application.
- CATEGORY: The category of the application.
- REQUESTS: The number of requests an application has made since it was detected on your network for the first time.
- STATUS: The application’s status: Need Review, Approved, or Unapproved.
- DEVICES: The devices associated with an application.
You can do the following on the Applications page:
Perform Search
Click .
View Status
The left-most column lists the statuses:
- Approved
- Need Review
- Unapproved
To change the status of an application, do the following:
1. Select the application by clicking the horizontal menu item associated with it.
2. Select the status of the application, and click the Change Status button to update the status.
3. It takes approximately 30 seconds for the system to update the status of an application on the Summary page in the tile reflective of the application's newly assigned status.
View Application Categories
All available categories of applications are listed in the left-most column of the Applications page:

- Consumer Services

To view all available application categories, click Show more. To limit the number of application categories shown on the list, click Show less.
View Manufacturers
The status types are listed in the left-most column of the Applications page. The following are some of the manufacturers available:
- Adobe Inc.
- Akamai Technologies
- Amazon
- Apple Inc.
- Apple, Inc
- Box, Inc
- Canonical
- Additional manufacturers
To view the list of all available manufacturers, click Show more. To limit the number of manufacturers shown, click Show less.
Filter by Application Category
Select the checkbox next to the application category or categories you want to view, and click Apply Filter. To remove all applied filters, click Clear.
Filter by Time and Date
On the right-hand side of the page, click Show, located below the Action bar. The time period displayed can be modified from 1 hour to 1 month. To choose a custom time period, select Custom and choose From and To values:
- 1 hour (default)
- 24 hours
- 48 hours
- 7 days
- 1 month
- Custom
When Custom is selected, the following date and time filters appear:
- From: Use the calendar and the time dial to select the start date and time
- To: Use the calendar and the time dial to select the end date and time
Changing Application Status
To change the status of an application, do the following:
- In the applications data table, select an application from the list by clicking the icon associated with the application.
- From the pop-up menu, select Approved or Unapproved, depending on the status you want to assign to the application.
- To see the status of newly approved and unapproved applications, go to the Summary page. On the page, you can view the status of newly updated applications.
Go to Policies > Filters and click followed by Edit next to the default All Unapproved Applications or All Unapproved Applications in the name column to edit the application filters. Tags can be assigned tags to approved as well as unapproved applications. Or, click the All Approved Applications link or the All Unapproved Applications link in the name column to go to the Application Discovery Summary page. Sort Application Categories
In the applications data table, click a header title to sort through the application records according to the column label.
Export Records
Click to export a CSV file that contains all Application Summary records.
