  1. Connect the following to your B1-105 appliance:

    1. The power cable that comes with the appliance

    2. An Ethernet cable using the LAN2 port on the front of the appliance

    3. A VGA or HDMI monitor

  2. Power up the appliance by pressing the power button and releasing it quickly. The network configuration is displayed on the monitor, as shown below. By default, the B1-105 on-prem appliance is configured for DHCP during the initial startup. If your network has DHCP servers available, the allocated IP address for the on-prem appliance is displayed on the monitor. If your network does not have DHCP servers available, the appliance will fall back to the default IP address 192.168.1.2, as shown in the figure below.

    Note

In the network configuration, “enp1s0” maps to the LAN2 IP address, and “enp2s0” maps to LAN1. Please note that even if the LAN1 field picks up an IP address, the port is not being used

3.  Configure the B1-105 appliance through an internet browser. To do so, the management PC or workstation on which you open the browser must have an IP address in the same subnet as the B1-105 appliance (for example, use 192.168.1.0/24 if your network does not have a DHCP server).

Open the internet browser on the management PC or workstation and enter http://192.168.1.2 or http://<allocated_IP> if the IP address was allocated via the DHCP server in your network.

The bootstrap interface appears in the browser, as shown below. Based on whether you are using DHCP or a static IP, select the respective Network Mode, and then enter the required IP address information and the API access key you obtained through the CSP.

Note

You can toggle between the Basic view and the Advanced view on the bootstrap interface.

4.  Click Apply Changes on the bootstrap UI to submit the configuration changes. The B1-105 appliance should automatically reboot, as shown below.

Note

Once you have set up the B1-105 appliance successfully, you will not be able to access the bootstrap interface again. If you need to re-configure the appliance, you must first reset the appliance to the factory default. For information, see the Factory Reset for the B1-105 section below.

In addition, if you have not configured any NTP server or local DNS resolver, the appliance uses the Ubuntu NTP server (ntp.ubuntu.org or ubuntu.pool.ntp.org) and ActiveTrust Cloud DNS (IP: 52.119.40.100). The communication to these services does not use the HTTPS proxy, and you must ensure that the NTP port (UDP 123) and the DNS port (TCP/UDP 53) are opened on your firewall.

5.  Once the B1-105 appliance boots up, you can check the appliance status on the monitor. Alternatively, you can check the appliance status through the CSP. The appliance begins downloading the required applications.

6.  After setting up the on-prem B1-105 appliance, you can log in to the CSP and perform DNS and DHCP tasks. For more information, refer to the online documentation at docs.infoblox.com.
