Creating DHCP Fingerprints

  1. From the Infoblox Portal, click Configure > Networking > IPAM/DHCP > DHCP Fingerprints.

  2. Click Create DHCP Fingerprint and enter the following:
    • Name: Enter the name of the DHCP fingerprint. The name must be unique, and it cannot contain any UTF-8 characters.
    • Device Class: From the drop-down list, select the device category to which this new fingerprint belongs. You can also enter a new device class in the search field. Universal DDI matches the entry to the closet possible values in current list for you to select. Device class is used for filtering purposes.
    • Description: Enter useful information about this DHCP fingerprint.
    • Precedence: Optionally, specify the precedence for the fingerprint. The rule with the lowest precedence value has the highest priority.
    • Optionally, you can create tags for your DHCP fingerprint. For information, see Managing Tags.
    • In the DHCP Fingerprint Rules section, click Add and complete the following to add a new rule:
      • Option Number Sequence: Enter the DHCP option number you want Universal DDI to validate. Valid values are from 0 to 255. When you enter more than one option, you must use commas (without spaces) to separate the numbers. For example, you can enter 1,15,3,6,44,46,47,31,33 for a Windows XP system.
You can also select an option sequence and click the Delete icon to delete it. Note that if you enter an option sequence that already exists in a standard DHCP fingerprint, you must disable that standard fingerprint before you can add the option sequence to the new DHCP fingerprint.
      • Vendor Class Option: From the drop down list, select an operator for Universal DDI to match a vendor class in DHCP option 60.
      • MAC Prefix: Optionally, enter the MAC address you want Universal DDI to match in this rule.

Click Add to save your configuration, and Universal DDI adds the rule to the table.

4. Click Save & Close to save the configuration,  or click Cancel to exit.
