Virtual Appliance Deployment

Infoblox provides the Docker container and OVA (Open Virtualization Appliance) deployment packages that enable you to deploy hosts in any virtual infrastructure. In addition, you can run multiple services on a virtual appliance, including the DFP (DNS Forwarding Proxy) service.

To deploy DFP on a virtual appliance, complete the following:

  1. Configure an Infoblox host on of one of the following virtual appliances:
  2. Log in to the Infoblox Portal.
  3. Click Configure > Infrastructure > Hosts.
  4. Review the list of hosts to ensure that the host you just set up is active.
  5. Click the Services tab.
  6. From the Create Services drop-down menu, select DNS Forwarding Proxy.
  7. Complete the following steps to run the DFP service on the host.
    Note: Ensure that you select the host on which you plan to run the DFP service when you configure general information.

Alternatively, you can apply an existing template containing DFP configuration you want to use to the newly created host. To apply an existing DFP service using a template, following the instructions as described in Applying Templates to Hosts.
