Configuring Basic Settings

On the Basics tab of the Microsoft Azure portal, configure the basic settings as follows:

  • In the Project details section complete the following:
    • Subscription: Select the subscription on which you want to create the virtual appliance.
    • Resource group: Either select an existing resource group or create a new one to which this virtual appliance belongs.
A resource group is a collection of resources that share the same life cycle, permissions, and policies. If you are creating a new resource group, ensure to enter a unique name for this resource group. You will see an error message if you use the name of an existing resource group.
Note that in a high availability (HA) setup, both HA nodes should be associated with the same resource group. Hybrid HA formed with nodes on different resource groups is not supported.
  • In the Instance details section complete the following:
    • Region: From the drop-down list, select the region in which the virtual appliance resides.
    • NIOS model: From the drop-down list, choose the vNIOS model that must be installed on the VM.
    • NIOS version: Select the NIOS version that must run on the VM instance.
    • NIOS VM name: Enter the VM name that should be used in the Azure portal.
    • Password for 'admin' user: Enter a password for the admin user. The admin user can make changes to all configuration for this virtual appliance.
      • The password length must be between 6 to 64 characters long for NIOS 8.4.3 and between 12 to 64 characters long for NIOS 8.5.3 and NIOS 8.6.0.
      • The password must fulfil at least any three of the following conditions: Upper case alphabetic character, lower case alphabetic character, numeric number, and special character.
Enter the password again to confirm.
