DNS category filtration provides good protection against explicit content, but search engines themselves can provide access to restricted content. For compliance reasons, or simply to prevent juveniles or other users access to such content, search engines provide "safe" versions of their search engines, which filter out inappropriate results. To help enforce the policy for all devices, this new policy feature can automatically redirect users to a safe version of the supported search engines. This feature currently supports the following search engines: Google Search, Bing, Youtube, and Yandex.

Enabling Safe Search Enforcement

To enable safe search, complete the following:

  1. From the Cloud Services Portal, click Policies > Security Policies.
  2. On the Security Policies page, click Create Security Policy at the top Action bar. The Create New Security Policy wizard appears.
  3. In the Safe Search section, toggle the Safe Search switch from Disable to Enable (disabled by default) to enable the safe search feature. When safe search is enabled, inappropriate content from search results obtained from four major search engines (Google, Bing, Youtube, and Yandex) is filtered and restricted. Enabling Safe Search ensures that protected users will be unable to access or view inappropriate content. Enabling Safe Search does not override any configured custom lists or the default redirect.
