Creating IPAM Hosts

Complete the following steps to create IPAM hosts:

  1. Go to Configure > Networking > IPAM/DHCP > Hosts.

  2. Click Create Host.

  3. Configure the following in the Create Host dialog:

    • Name: Specify a name for the host.

    • Description: Specify a brief description for the host.

    • Auto-generate DNS records for this host: Select the check box if you would like to auto-generate DNS records for this host. If you do not want to auto-generate DNS records, clear the check box. By default, the check box is cleared.

    • Hostnames: Click Add and configure the following fields:

      • Name: Specify a name for the host.

      • Primary Name: Specify if this is the primary name for the host.

      • Alias: Select the check box if the host has an alias.

      • Zone: Select the zone where this host belongs to.

    • IP Addresses: Click Add and configure by choosing one of the following options:

      • Manually Enter IP Address: Configure the following:

      • IP Space: Choose the IP space from the list.

      • IP Address: Specify the IP address.

      • Next Available: Choose this option to choose the Next Available Network.

      • Scope: If you selected Next Available, specify the scope.

  4. Click Save & Close.

You can only use hostnames that contain alphanumeric characters, dashes (-), and asterisks (*). You cannot use other special characters, such as underscore (_).
