Clearing DNS Cache

When a client queries a DNS server, the responses are cached in the DNS server until they expire. Subsequent queries receive a response from the cache. If the cache is outdated, it is useful to clear the cache so the old data can be removed. This results in more accurate responses. You can clear DNS cache without having to restart the NIOS-X Server or the DNS service.

To clear DNS cache from the Infoblox Portal, complete the following:

  1. From the Infoblox Portal, click Configure > Networking > DNS > DNS Servers.

  2. Click  and select Troubleshoot > Clear DNS Cache for a single DNS server.

  3. Click Confirm.

The DNS cache is cleared.

To clear DNS cache from the service instance, complete the following:

  1. From the Infoblox Portal, click Configure > Service Deployment > Protocol Service.

  2. Select a service instance.

  3. Select Service > DNS > Clear DNS Cache.

  4. Click Confirm.

The DNS cache is cleared.
