Configuring DNS Servers

Universal DDI allows you to configure an existing NIOS-X Server as a DNS server. The DNS server can then be included in a DNS zone as an Authoritative DNS server. For more information, see Configuring DNS Zones. Based on your licensing, you can enable the DNS service on the NIOS-X Server.  Once the DNS service has been enabled on the NIOS-X Server, you can configure additional settings on the DNS Servers page.

The existing list of DNS servers can be viewed at Configure > Networking > DNS > DNS Servers. This page does not allow you to create new DNS servers.

You can also perform the following in this tab:

  • Click the menu button, , to reorder the columns or to select the columns to be displayed.
  • Click the menu button, , and then Edit, or select the check box for the respective record, and then click Edit to modify a DNS server.

  • Select a DNS server to view respective information such as DNS Name, NIOS-X Server IP Address, DNS Config Profile, Description, DNS, DNS Forwarding Proxy, and filter. If you do not want to view the details in the right panel, click the information button, .
