Passive Discovery
Passive discovery is a less taxing approach for discovering assets in your network infrastructure. The Infoblox Passive Discovery feature, in conjunction with Infoblox SOC Insights, utilizes data in the DHCP logs and discovered data from Infoblox managed endpoints to give you visibility into your network devices.
Based on the ingested data, SOC Insights generates reports that you can view on the SOC Insights Assets tab of the Infoblox Portal, depending on your account’s subscription. For information on SOC Insights, see SOC Insights. For information on the Assets workspace, see Viewing the Assets Workspace.
Before configuring Passive Discovery, ensure that you have created a Discovery Service on the NIOS-X server (formerly BloxOne appliance). For information, see Creating Discovery Services.
Depending on whether your account is subscribed to the BloxOne DDI licenses, Universal DDI tokens, and SOC Insights, the following table describes the different scenarios you may experience when using Passive Discovery.
| BloxOne DDI without SOC Insights | BloxOne DDI with SOC Insights | Universal DDI with SOC Insights | Universal DDI without SOC Insights |
