Resetting the B1-212

When necessary, you can reset the B1-212 appliance to the factory default using one of the following methods:

Important

When you reset the appliance, all configurations and software/patch versions on the appliance will be reset to the factory default.

Resetting via a USB Flash Drive

To reset the B1-212 appliance using a USB flash drive, complete the following:

  1. Obtain a USB flash drive that supports FAT32 (for Windows) or EXT4 (for Linux) file system.

  2. Add an empty file called “dofactoryreset” to the USB flash drive by doing one of the following:

    1. From the Cloud Services Portal, download the “dofactoryreset” file to the USB by clicking Administration -> Downloads -> Download Factory Reset.
    2. For Linux, create a file called “dofactoryreset” in the root file system of the USB.

  3. Insert the USB flash drive into the USB port of the B1-212 appliance.
  4. The appliance detects the settings on the USB flash drive and begins performing the factory reset operation.
  5. During the reset process, the appliance reboots and resets itself to the default configuration.
  6. Once the reset process is complete, you can set up and reconfigure the appliance, as described in /wiki/spaces/InfrastructureDRAFT/pages/343539815.

Important

If you use a USB drive that contains a previously downloaded or created “dofactoryreset” file, ensure that you change the timestamp of the file before resetting your B1-212 appliance. Otherwise, you will not be able to reset the appliance. On a Linux system, you can use the "touch" command to change the timestamp of the file. You can also remove the old file and download a new one from the Cloud Services Portal.
