Adding IP Space Discriminators

You can configure IP space discriminators in order to support multiple subscribers using the same IP address. The value of the IP space discriminators is used to differentiate between subscribers using the same IP address. You can tag the DNS interfaces (including VLANs) of a Grid member with an IP space discriminator if multiple subscribers are using the same IP address.

To configure an IP space discriminator:

  1. From the Data Management tab -> DNS tab -> Subscriber Services Deployment tab, expand the Toolbar and click Manage IP Space Discriminators.
  2. In the Manage IP Space Discriminators panel, click the Add icon and complete the following:
    • Name: Enter the name of the IP space discriminator.
    • Value: Enter the actual value of the IP space discriminator that is used to differentiate between subscribers using the same IP address.

Note: The IP space discriminator value entered in this field must be an exact match with the value received in the RADIUS accounting message. For example, if you enter the complete IPv6 address (2001:0db8:0000:0000:0000:0000:0102:0405), then the IPv6 address received in the RADIUS accounting message should also be the complete IPv6 address (2001:0db8:0000:0000:0000:0000:0102:0405). If you enter the normalized IPv6 address (2001:db8::0102:0405), then the IPv6 address received in the RADIUS accounting message should also be in the normalized form (2001:db8::0102:0405).
  3. Click Add to add the IP space discriminator.

After you have added IP space discriminators, you can do the following:

  • Select an IP space discriminator and click the Edit icon to edit the configuration.
  • Select an IP space discriminator and click the Delete icon to delete it.
