A routing policy protocol consists of multiple routing protocol rules that you have configured. When you group a set of routing protocol rules into a routing protocol policy, you create a portfolio of routing protocol rules that you use to protect your networks in a specific manner. Routing protocol policies allow you to assign a group of routing protocol rules to your edge profiles.

Routers follow routing protocol rules to communicate with sources and destinations. In BloxOne Service Edge, you can (1) configure rules that employ different routing protocols and (2) specify the methods and parameters that routers will use to route data packets across networks. Routing protocol rules complement routing rules, and this allows you to create a comprehensive routing strategy for your networking infrastructure.
