When necessary, you can reset the B1-212 appliance to the factory default using one of the following methods:

  • USB flash drive
  • Device UI

When you reset the appliance, all configurations and software/patch versions on the appliance will be reset to the factory default.

If you use a USB drive that contains a previously downloaded or created “dofactoryreset” file, ensure that you change the timestamp of the file before resetting your B1-212 appliance. Otherwise, you will not be able to reset the appliance. On a Linux system, you can use the "touch" command to change the timestamp of the file. You can also remove the old file and download a new one from the Cloud Services Infoblox Portal.

Resetting via the Device UI

  1. Log in to the Infoblox Portal.
  2. Click Configure > Servers.
  3. On the Hosts page, select the NIOS-X server you want to configure.
  4. Click the ... drop-down menu, and then select Local Access to enable local access to the B1-212 appliance.
  5. Enabling

    In the Enable Local Access dialog, click Enable. Local access to the appliance is granted for two hours.

    Note that enabling local access to the B1-212 appliance allows you to reset the NIOS-X server using the Device UI.

  6. Log in to the Device UI. For information about the Device UI, see Troubleshooting Servers.
  7. Click Administration > Reset Host from the left pane menu.
  8. On the Administration page, click Reset for Factory Reset.
  9. In the Confirm your action dialog, complete the following:
    • Enter your password: Enter the last seven or eight digits of the serial number mentioned on the Service Tag of B1-212 appliance. 
  10. Click Confirm to proceed with the factory reset.
  11. Once the reset process is complete, you can set up and reconfigure the appliance, as described in Deploying the B1-212 Physical Server.
