Creating Location Profiles

On the Configure > Administration > Locations page, click Add Location to create a location profile

In the Create Location dialog, complete the following:

  • Name: Enter the name of the location profile.

  • Description: Enter a description about the location profile.

In the LOCATION INFORMATION section, complete the following

Location Type: Choose one of the following:

  • Address: Select this to enter an address for the location.

  • Latitude/Longitude: Select this to enter the latitude and longitude of the location.

When you choose to enter an address, complete the following:

  • Address: This is a mandatory field. Enter the street address of the location. If you enter a company or business name here, you may choose the applicable address from the Locations drop-down list when you click Get Coordinates, provided that the company address is listed in the geocode system.

  • Zip/Postal: Enter the zip code or postal code of the address, depending on where the location is.

  • City: Enter the city in which the address belongs.

  • State: Enter the state of the location, if applicable.

  • Country: Enter the country in which the address resides. This is a mandatory field.

  • Get Coordinates: Click this to convert the address or name place into geographic coordinates in latitude and longitude. If clicking Get Coordinates does not return the proper location, add specific details to the address or move the marker on the map box to pinpoint the exact location. Alternatively, you can switch to the Location Type to Latitude/Longitude and provide the exact coordinates.

  • Locations: From the drop-down list, choose the address for the location profile. For example, if you have entered only a business name or locality and this country in which it resides, you can choose the correct address from the drop-down list.

When you choose to enter the latitude and longitude of the location, complete the following:

Latitude: Enter the latitude of the location in decimal degree. Latitude measures the distance north or south of the Earth’s equator. The first number in your latitude coordinate is between -90 and 90. Example of a latitude in decimal degrees: 41.40338.

Longitude: Enter the longitude of the location in decimal degree. Longitude measures the distance east or west of the prime meridian. The first number in your longitude coordinate is between -180 and 180. Example of a longitude in decimal degrees: 2.17403.

Map: Infoblox Portal places a light blue marker on the map to indicate the position of the location. You can zoom or out of the map to view the position of the location. You can also move the marker on the map to pinpoint the exact location, if required.

In the CONTACT INFORMATION section, complete the following:

  • Name: The name of the location owner. This can be the system administrator who is responsible for managing the location profile.

  • Phone: The telephone number of the location owner.

  • Email: The email address of the location owner.

Click Save & Close save the configuration.

After you create a location profile, you can apply it to a NIOS-X server or multiple NIOS-X servers. For information, see Creating Servers or Editing Servers.
