Viewing Devices

The Devices page displays details about all detected devices observed on your network. To view device details, navigate to Monitor > Reports > Application Discovery. On the Devices tab, you can view and sort all detected devices observed on your network, including device name, requests, and devices, and can apply filters based on application category, and manufacturer. Devices can be sorted and selected in order to view what applications are associated with the selected device. The Devices page displays the following: 

  • DEVICE NAME: The name of the device.
  • TOTAL APPLICATIONS: The number of applications associated with each detected device observed on your network. You can click on Total Applications in the table to view the details about the device. Device information includes: 
    • STATUS: the assigned status for the application being used by the device.
    • MANUFACTURER: The manufacturer of the application being used by the device. 
    • APPLICATION NAME: the name of the application in use by the device.
    • APPLICATION CATEGORY: the application category associated with the device. 
    • DNS QUERIES: the number of DNS queries for the device. 
    • You can also click Change Status to change the device’s status. 
  • REQUESTS: The number of requests an application observed on your network has made since first seen on your network.

On the Devices page, you can  also do the following:

View Background Tasks

Click the hourglass icon to view all background tasks currently being undertaken. 

Search Tool

Click the search icon to use the search tool in searching through all available device records. 

Time and Date Filtering

Click Show, located to the right-hand side of the page below the top Action bar, to allow filtering of records by both time and date. The time period displayed can be modified from 1 hour to 1 month. Optionally, by selecting Custom and choosing From and To values, a custom time period can be chosen. You can select a different time frame from the Show drop-down menu. Show options include the following: 

  • 1 hour (default)
  • 24 hours
  • 48 hours
  • 7 days
  • 1 month
  • Custom
    • When Custom is selected for time and date filtering, the following date/time filters appear, allowing further customization of the respective date and time:
      • From: When selected a time dial and calendar appears where a time and date can be selected for the start time/date.
      • To: When selected a time dial and calendar appears where a time and date can be selected for the end time/date.

Sorting Device Records

In the devices data table, click on a header title to sort though the devices records based on the column label.    

Export Records

Click the export icon to export a csv-formatted file containing all device records.Â
