DNS Overview

The DNS Overview dashboard provides details information about the DNS requests.

There are six filters with labels “Time Range” , “SLD”, “User”, “Asset”, “Response Code” and “Record Type” in the DNS Events Overview dashboard. The  “User”, “Asset”, “Response Code” and “Record Type” filters are multiselect dropdown. By default selected Time Range is “Last 24 Hours” and all other filters are set to “All”.

To view detailed information about the DNS requests, drill down to the log activity is provided in all the panels except “Recent 1000 DNS Requests” table panel. 

  • Top 1000 Most Requested FQDNs: The “Top 1000 Most Requested FQDNs” is a table panel. It displays the counts of the 1000 most requested FQDNs.

  • Top 1000 Users Made Most Requests: The “Top 1000 Users Made Most Requests” is a table panel. It displays the count of the 1000 users made most DNS requests.

  • DNS by Response Type: The “DNS by Response Type” is a pie chart panel. It presents the number of responses for each response type value. In this panel top 25 type of response with the highest count will be displayed.

  • DNS by Query Type: The “DNS by Query Type” is a pie chart panel. It presents the number of query type for each type of query. In this panel top 25 queries with the highest count will be displayed. 

  • Overall Queries per Hour: The “Overall Queries per hour” is a bar chart panel. It presents the number of DNS Queries made per hour. If “Time Range” filter is selected with the days value, overall queries per day will be displayed.

  • Recent 1000 DNS Requests: The “Recent 1000 DNS Requests” is a table panel. It displays details of the recent 1000 DNS requests.
