Configuring Health Probe Policies

You must assign the health probe policy to an edge profile, and when you do, the profile’s configuration is transferred from the cloud to the Service Edge on-prem host. Therefore, all health probe rules associated with the policy are pushed to the host, and if all of the rule’s criteria are met, the host’s status is displayed as CONNECTED.

Health probe rules help determine the HA status of Service Edge on-prem hosts. A health probe rule is the building block of an HA configuration and is the foundation upon which all other rules are built. You can configure health probe rules for a target and add them to a health probe policy. A health probe agent is an essential Service Edge service, and it is responsible for health probes and health reporting of preconfigured critical resources, such as physical links for WANs and LANs.

You must create at least one health probe rule for each Service Edge instance. You can then associate the health probe rules with an HA rule and a health probe policy. Health probe rules are also a part of the HA rules; when you create an HA rule, you must select at least one health probe rule. For details, see Creating HA Policies.

On the Health Probe Policies page, the Cloud Services Portal displays the following information for each policy:

  • NAME: The name of the policy.
  • RULES: The number of health probe rules in the policy.

You can do the following on the Health Probe Policies page:

  • View the Rules and other details of a policy: Select the policy and view its details in the panel on the right or by clicking .
  • Modify a policy: Click  Edit, or select the checkbox for the policy and click the Edit button.
  • Remove a policy: Select the policy and click  Remove or click the Remove button.
  • Search for policies by keyword: In the Search text box, enter the keyword that you want to search on. The application displays the policies that match the keyword.
  • Filter the policies by name: Click .
